Our Story...

How it started...

Artists, enthusiasts, explorers and soon to be your favorite wedding photographers based in Calgary, Alberta. Its not often in life you find something that just fits, but when we met (and coincidentally when we found wedding photography) it felt like just that. One unforeseen day at a climbing gym in our hometown, Stef came in for a lunch-time session, and it just so happened that Jay was working that day as a coach for members, and the rest is history. A year later we had sold everything, got on a plane to Thailand, then Hong Kong and eventually settling on the other side of the world in search of our next big adventure in Australia- but this time with a partner and desperately in love. What followed in the next three years down under can only be described as a crucible of growth, both personally and as

a couple.

Our love for Photography...

Inspired by his brother and lovingly guided by Stef, Jay discovered his love for film photography, and it quickly grew to be a passion and first real creative outlet. Stef had grown up with photography thanks to her father, but travelling inspired her to hone in on her craft, always having a camera in hand whether 35mm or digital. With a rapidly growing camera collection (mostly funded by Jays escapades in instruction and rope access), we also grew our knowledge for photography.

Our hobbies beyond photography...

Swapping one form of water for another, Stef once again took Jay under her wing to share her love of surfing. Having been a lifetime skier, Jay had his doubts about going sideways instead of forward, lo and behold another activity had been added to the long list of passions that we share. Needless to say...Surfing, photography, video games and climbing (amungst some other things) dominated our lives.

An addition to the family...

As fate would have it our love story had one more twist. Our final piece of the puzzle arrived on one faithful day just as the pandemic was settling in... We had always wanted a dog, but us alongside of many other future dog dads and moms, had thought all this potential time at home would be a perfect time for a puppy. Getting caught up in the COVID puppy fever didn't leave us very hopeful after being told over and over to join the waitlist. After what seemed like endless no's, we had decided it might just not be the right time and came to terms with not having one despite being 100% committed and ready. Yet as they say, "you find what you're after once you stop looking for it", and this was exactly the case with Leeloo.

The perfect Basenji (biased), with looks that would win shows, and genetics that would make breeders salivate, our little demon was destined for Basenji stardom. Nevertheless, nothing in this universe can truly be perfect, Leeloo's incredible independence and matching insatiable appetite would be the (big) beautiful imperfections that led her our way.

Our return to Canada...

And just like that our love triangle had been completed, a year and a half later we'd find ourselves back on Canadian soil. Having gained a new family member, expanded our passions, and learned a whole lot about ourselves and each other along the way, our next chapter was set to begin, leading to where we are today...

Oh & one last thing...

We added a fourth member to our family... Atari :)
